BANG, BANG, YOU'RE DEAD - Part 3

Liz drops Eddie, Rosie, Julie and Jason off at a safe house. "Get in, get settled down," Liz tells them. The officers who will replace them will call before arriving. "Good luck!"
"If I'd have done different we wouldn't be here now," says Jason as they walk in.
"No, you'd probably still be lying in hospital," Ed remarks.
"That's part of the consequences I'd have to accept."
"Very philosophical, mate!"
Rosie gives Julie her shopping bag. "Eddie and I are going to check around: make sure we're all secure." She shuts the kitchen door behind her. "Will you just back off from Jason for a bit. The poor bloke's in a total state!"
"Shut up Rosebud! Stay right out of my face. Speak only when spoken to. Get it?"

In the canteen, the rest of the relief's gossiping about Rosie's outburst at the paintballing session. Matt Boyden's handing out pictures of Sowerby. "This is the bloke we're after."
"Wasn't it weird though, the way she flipped out," says Polly, not paying attention.
"Dave reckons it's like fatal attraction," Tony says.
"Eddie should have seen her coming!" Vicky adds.
"Love's blind, isn't it."
"It's a shame though. She never seemed that type at first," comments Poll.
"All women like that often have emotional issues," says Vicky.
"Women like what?" Reg interrupts.
"Alright, let's gone with it. We've got an escaped prisoner to find!" Matt calls out.
"Oh well. You're still in with a chance, Reg. Catch her on the rebound!" Poll jokes.
"I think Reg has got better taste than that, haven't you Honeybunch," laughs Vicky as they get up to go.

Ed's watching the horse-racing, whilst the others are just quietly sitting in the living-room too nervous to do much.
"Are you alright, love?" Julie breaks the silence.
"Yes," Jason quietly answers.
"This is so weird! I'll have to call work, let them know."
"Be careful what you say about where you are, just in case," Rosie warns her. There's a knock at the door.
"Who's that?" Jason sounds like he's going to panic.
"We'll see who it is," Ed calmly tells them. "Probably the babysitters." He looks out the window.
"They said they'd call first," Rosie reminds him.
"Nothing there," he reports. "Come on." Rosie tells Jason and Julie to stay where they are. The officers go into the hall, where they can see that someone's just outside the door. Ed asks who it is, so the person posts their warrant card through the letterbox. Ed shows it to Rosie before letting them in.
It's a man and a woman, Neil and Jackie, who are there to take over from Ed and Rosie. "Best not to advertise," Neil comments as he steps inside.
"You were supposed to call!" Rosie says to them.
"My mobiles on the blink." He looks her up and down. "You look nice! What's your name?" She ignores him.

Liz is outside ready to pick them up. "You see, he was friendly!" says Ed quietly, as they walk outside. "You missed an opportunity. You could have pulled there, Rosebud!"
"Everything alright?" Liz asks as they get in.
"Yes," Rosie says shortly, clearly frustrated. "Any sign of Sowerby?"
"No, not yet."
"Well we better get back out there and find him, eh Rosebud?" Ed says cheerfully.

Vicky and Polly are out in the Area Car. "I'm hungry. I fancy an ice-cream," Polly says.
"You've just had your tea!"
"It'll go to you hips, Polly," Vicky jokes.
"You sound like my Mum." Vicky suddenly brakes. "What did I say?"
"Over there!" Vicky points out Michael Sowerby, who promptly tries to get away. Vicky starts to drive after him and Poll radios it in.
In CAD, Boyden lets all the other units know.
Sowerby runs into an abandoned building: an old nurses' home.
June tells Boyden that she'll get over there, while he radios Barton Street Station to try and get hold of some dog units.

Eddie and Rosie arrive at the scene followed by Luke and Dave.
"He went in on the first floor," Vicky informs them.
"Is he still up there?" asks Ed.
"Yeah. Shall we get on with it?"
"Are you sure it was Sowerby?" Rosie asks.
"No, we made it up!" is the sarcastic reply.
"We'll need dogs," Dave reasons.
"Off you go then," Ed mutters to Rosie.
June and the dog handlers turn up. "We were right behind him, Sarge. He's definitely in there," Polly tells her. June gives them instructions about which part of the building to search She tells them all to stay in their pairs and keep in radio contact, as Sowerby's not likely to come out without a fight.
Eddie, Luke, Dave and Rosie all cautiously enter the building, getting out their batons. "Here Eddie," says Dave. "We should have brought paint-guns. We could have had a game."
They split up.
As soon as Eddie and Rosie are out of earshot, Luke calls over to Dave. "Can I ask you something?"
"Go on."
"Eddie and Rosie…"
"Pass." Dave answers without bothering to hear the rest of the question.
