THE PARTY'S OVER - Part 3

Eddie and Rosie dash out the front of the station, almost knocking over another officer in the process.
"What happened?" Rosie asks.
"I wish I knew!"
"You're a lying bastard, Eddie! Why are you doing this?"
"What?"
"Playing this crazy game with me!"
"You're the one playing the games, Rosebud! I'm the one getting the runaround!" They look up and down the street, but there's no sign of Jason. Rosie gives Ed an exasperated look and storms off back inside.

"I'm sure we'll find him, Sarge," begins Ed.
"That'll be easy if you don't even know his name!" DS Boulton's clearly annoyed about this.
"Well he didn't come across much like a mugger to me anyway."
"Well you needn't have wasted my time then," he snaps.
"I just meant..."
"Just give us a shout if you catch him again, okay." Dave calls Eddie over. He's wanted in the Sergeants' Office. "So what're you gonna do now?"
"It's her word against mine."
"Have you done the deed: said goodbye?"
"Yes. She didn't respond very positively!"
"So this is her evening up the score." They meet Tony and George in the corridor. They're on Eddie's side too.
"Bad luck mate," Tony sympathises.
"Did she really say it was down to you?" asks George.
"I can't really believe she's gonna stitch you up," says Dave.
Ed continues to stir it. "I'm starting to believe anything with Rosebud!"

The three Sergeants are discussing the missing prisoner fiasco. "I think Rosie's been having some personal problems," suggests Matt.
"Come on, that's not the point," June tells him. Rosie and Eddie arrive. "Shut the door. What happened?" she first asks Rosie.
"I left Eddie to take Jason to the Gents while I went to get him a cup of tea, Sarge. When I got back he was gone," she quickly says.
Eddie begins to argue with her version. "I left Jason with you when I went to get some tapes for the interview." He looks to Sgt. Ackland to back him up. She confirms that he did come and get some tapes.
"Well that must have been afterwards," argues Rosie.
"I gave both of you specific and definite instructions not to leave that prisoner anywhere," Junes reprimands them. "He was obviously vulnerable and he's our responsibility. What if he goes wandering off into the traffic again and gets himself killed?"
"Making that kind of basic mistake is not what's expected from experienced officers on this team," Bob calmly tells them.
"No, and it won't be tolerated by any of us," June continues. "Is that clear?"
"Sarge."
"You're lucky this is not going on your records," Bob reminds them.
"You better go." June hands Rosie Jason's sweatshirt. "Jason left this. Hopefully, you'll be able to find him and bring him back to the station in one piece." Rosie and Eddie leave. "What's going on with those two?"
"Well whatever it was I think it's over!" says Matt. Bob suggests that they're kept apart for a couple of days. "You're probably right. It didn't occur to me."

Rosie's in the lady's toilets rinsing her face. Polly and Vicky come in. "Found your prisoner yet?" Vicky asks.
"Not yet."
"Shame you had to drop Eddie in it!"
"I didn't!"
"Well what happened then?" asks Polly.
Rosie turns to Vicky. "Is this just mindless prejudice, Vicky, or have you got any particular reasons for disliking me?"
"I'll run you through them when I've finished the list!" she answers.
"Actually, don't bother. I'm not that interested!" Rosie goes out into the corridor where Eddie's waiting for her.
"Can we go now?" he asks impatiently.
"Go yourself! I'm going to put his description through CrimNet. I'll call you when I'm finished."

"Any joy?" Matt asks cheerfully.
"No Sarge," Rosie sighs.
"You're looking a bit depressed."
"Can't think why. It's been a great day so far!"
"What's this?" He picks up the yellow sweatshirt. "Think this is relevant at all?"
"What Sarge?" He holds it up. There's a logo on it: Ali's Electrics.
"it's a factory over in the Shadwell Industrial Estate." Rosie thanks him and goes to find Eddie. "You're welcome!"

Eddie and Rosie aren't even talking as they go to the Ali's Electrics Factory. A young woman in a yellow polo-shirt comes when Ed rings the bell.
"We're making enquiries about a young man we think may work here. His first name's Jason, but we don't know…" Rosie begins to explain.
"What's happened to him?"
"Does he work here?" she asks.
"Jason Jefferies. He's my boyfriend. What's wrong?" The woman beginning to look worried.
"Your name is?" Ed calmly asks.
"Julie Craven."
"Has Jason ever been in trouble with the police, Julie?" Rosie asks.
"We think he may have been in the vicinity when a violent robbery took place in the park," explains Ed.
"Yeah, I know that..."
Rosie's surprised. "You know?"
"He saw someone being mugged. Is he okay? Only, I had to get the doctor out, 'cause he was so shook up by what he'd seen. The doctor reckoned he'd been traumatised."
"He's okay, Julie," she reassures her. "But he was involved in an accident and now he's disappeared."
"Disappeared?"
"Do you think he would have gone home?" suggests Ed. Julie rings the house to check. Julie tells them that Jason wanted to go back to the scene of the mugging. When there's no answer, they decide to try looking for him in the park next.

Ed, Rosie and Julie are looking in the park. Rosie asks why they didn't report what Jason had seen to the police. "It took hours before he'd talk to me about what happened. He was in such a state, he wouldn't stop crying. Then when I did find out, there didn't seem much point." Ed spots Jason. They all run over to him. "Jase, what have you been doing?"
"I don't know, Jules. I don't know what's happening."
"You've had a shock, that's all. You'll be alright. The doctor said…" She stops and looks around her. "Is there where it happened?"
"Yeah." Jason's not comfortable around the uniformed officers. "What are they here for?" Julie tells him that they've got to go down to the station to tell the police what he saw.
